The Regional School-Age Quality Improvement Project is a component of the Regional CCR&R Services Program at Down East Partnership for Children (DEPC) and is funded by North Carolina Division of Child Development. The Division of Child Development recognized the need to provide services for school-age caregivers and has created a resource to offer these services free to school-age caregivers and programs in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Warren, and Wilson counties who want to improve the quality of care they provide. Does Your Program... -Serve school-age children from 5 to 12 years old? -Want to learn more about high quality school-age childcare? -Need assistance with licensing issues? -Need help with providing stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities?
The School-Age Specialist Can... -Provide on-site consultation -Provide workshops on school-age related topics -Provide Basic School-Age Care (BSAC) training -Provide School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS) training -Provide room arrangement and lesson plan suggestions -Provide any other help that you may need to increase the quality of your school-age program
The Regional School-Age Quality Improvement Project provides free services to: Families of School-Age Children -Provides referrals to school-age care programs (after school) -Conducts workshops on how to choose quality school-age care -Answers questions on school-age care regulations and quality issues
Community -Gathers statistics on school-age care in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Warren, and Wilson counties -Operates a database of local school-age care options -Increases the awareness of quality school-age care -Works with businesses who are concerned about the effects of school-age care problems on the workforce
