Promoting Healthy Social Behaviors Project is a component of the Regional CCR&R Services Program at Down East Partnership for Children (DEPC). In 2005, North Carolina Division of Child Development recognized that child care providers needed assistance to meet the needs of young children with challenging behaviors. To accomplish this they created a Behavior Specialist position for each of the 18 Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) regions across the state.
One of these Behavior Specialist is available for child care providers in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Warren and Wilson counties. This is a free service and is provided through the Down East Partnership for Children Child Care Resource and Referral in Rocky Mount, NC. The Behavior Specialist can... -Provide specialized consultation, technical assistance and training to help teachers identify, prevent and address challenging behaviors in young children -Share techniques that promote social competencies in all children in child care -Help teachers determine strategies to teach children socially appropriate behaviors -Work with teachers to enhance classroom management techniques and promote child-centered learning activities that promote pro social behaviors -Provide educational resources through articles and training events to others in the community interested in promoting the social-emotional health of young children
Child Care Resource & Referral provides all services in an unbiased manner with regard to race, ethnicity, gender, religion, handicap, and national origin.
