Down East Partnership for Children Family Resource Center The Down East Partnership for Children (DEPC) Family Resource Center, located in downtown Rocky Mount, has approximately 23,000 square feet. It is a three-story structure that occupies 1.25 acres of land and features three public meeting rooms and a community playground.
Down East Partnership for Children allows community organizations or groups to use its public meeting rooms, providing that usage is for a cause that aligns with DEPC's mission and goals.
Approximately 30,000 people visit the facility every year for meetings, workshops and general information. Outdoor Playground Down East Partnership for Children Outdoor Playground occupies 1.24 acres of land. A large concrete walking track encompasses the entire perimeter. |

It features a covered shelter, ADA approved surfacing mulch and rubber matting, climbing equipment and swings. The equipment is best suited for children from birth to five. Handicapped accessible playground equipment and swings are also provided. The bathroom facility includes a diaper changing area, first aid kit, and two water fountains. Equipment is checked daily for broken items, cleanliness and ground conditions to ensure the safety of children. Indoor Play Space The Partnership also features an 800 square foot Indoor Play space for children ages birth to five. One of the distinctive features of the play space is the rubberized, resilient floor covering that helps prevent serious injury to children. Its water play activity area is well known and is unique to Down East Partnership for Children. A two-story loft play area to promote dramatic play, as well as to develop gross motor skills is included.  | Parents can observe their children through two large observation windows. Two video cameras that provide opportunities for children to dress-up, and then watch themselves on TV are also included. |
Tours Tours are scheduled for every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. If these dates and times are inconvenient, other times can be scheduled to better accommodate your schedule. We are sorry, but no children are allowed on tours. We invite you to take a tour of the facilities to learn more about the programs that are provided and how they serve families and children in Nash and Edgecombe counties. An overview of each program will be given, and you will receive an information packet to take with you. The guided tour includes a walk through of the facility's first and second floors, where you'll view the Play Space, Parent Information Center, and the Lending Library.
