Down East Partnership for Children (DEPC) Community Outreach program provides education and information services to families, child care providers, the business community, interested citizens, community-based leaders and the general public. Through communication and marketing efforts the message of school readiness, the importance of early childhood education and support to all families is shared. Participation in community events, public speaking engagements and Partnership tours are utilized to share the mission of DEPC with the general community and specialized groups. Community Outreach programs include: The Community Fellows program, a 2 year outreach & leadership program which serves as the "hands and the arms" of DEPC in the community, connecting families to resources and sharing the early childhood message. The Healthy Kids Collaborative (HKC) consists of community members from Nash and Edgecombe counties, who have the influence and authority to create change in policy to achieve the desired impact of having children, enter kindergarten with a BMI under the 85th percentile.
