The Down East Partnership for Children is committed to successfully launching every child as a lifelong learner by the end of the 3rd grade.
The work of DEPC has grown exponentially throughout the past five years, including:
- Crossing the Kindergarten divide to focus on children from birth to age 8
- Increasing the work with elementary schools, targeting the efforts to recruit and train community members to serve as leaders and
- Tackling the physical health of children by reducing childhood obesity through community-based solutions
DEPC has gained national attention, capturing the eye of some of the largest funders including W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Annually, DEPC invests more than $7 million into the local economy by supporting 20 programs in 10 agencies or organizations. Together, these services are making a difference for the children and families of Nash and Edgecombe counties.
